What: Urban health fair combining health screening, health education with basketball, art, dance and music.

HipHopOsium is a two-day holistic health and wellness conference on the Auraria Campus, using art, music, poetry, dance and basketball to stimulate communication around health concerns, community needs and youth interests.

At HipHopOsium, youth will:

  • Learn to create bridges that support community and develop a network of resources
  • Empower themselves to live healthier, happier lives
  • Create solutions to build stronger communities

Youth will receive a HipHopOsium Resource Kit with:

  • Community resource directory
  • Health survival guide
  • Problem-solving methods and techniques
  • Community participation and activism information

July 2 – 5: Pre-week art, music, poetry and dance activities

July 6th Day 1 of HipHopOsium – 250 expected participants

  • Symposium: Social gathering with music, dancing and networking
  • Healthy Choices Workshops: Sessions run by local health providers
  • Networking Workshops: Sessions run by local and national agencies

July 7th Day 2 of HipHopOsium – 1,500 expected participants

  • Youth Health Fair: HIV/STD screenings by local agencies
  • Youth Fashion Show: Featuring Future and White Chocolate Street Fashions
  • Street Ball Tournament
