Latin Crossroads is about education, help about health, safe sex, not sharing needles, Hep-C information. I’ve been in the process of getting help for treatment and help with Hep C through Latin Crossroads–and now I get more info out to others, too… -“Luis” Latin Crossroads prevents the spread of HIV and Hepatitis C by educating former and current Latino injection drug users about health and safer behaviors, assisting their efforts to teach this information and distribute bleach kits to other users, and connecting them to drug addiction recovery and other area resources. Twice a month, injection drug users come together for meetings in the Lincoln Park Housing Development that focus on their specific health concerns, such as HIV, sexuality and substance use. Participants also strategize methods and areas for distribution of sterilizing bleach kits to other users to prevent the spread of Hep-C and HIV. Latin Crossroads addresses the holistic needs of Latino injection drug users. Mind:
Leaders encourage open discussion of health related issues and explicitly
addresses safer sexual and drug using behavior. Spirit: Faith community members in the neighborhood have developed a relationship with the group, offering long-term support to our members. Funded by Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Latin Crossroads is a collaboration of Sisters, Denver Health and Denver Area Youth Services.
