Joins Giving First, a Program of LMC Community Foundation
Now you can make an on-line donation to SISTERS and the LMC Community
Foundation will pay the 3% credit card fee! Go to www.lmccf.org, click
on Giving First and enter SISTERS in the Organization search. We will
be there starting October 3rd, and, if you give on that day, your gift
may be matched 50 cents on the dollar!
[$50,000 in matching funds from the Foundation will be released on October 3. These funds will match gifts made through GivingFirst, 50 cents on the dollar, up to $5,000 per nonprofit. This is a competitive, first come, first served matching gifts program and is not a guarantee of matching gift dollars to any participating nonprofit.]
Murals
in the Works
Metro State art professor Carlos Fresquez, his art students and local
indigenous artists and youth are collaborating with SISTERS to produce
stunning, culturally significant murals on the new building’s exterior.
Messages about wholeness, wellness, unity and cultural strength are sure
to inspire passers-by.
New Promotoras in Southern Colorado
Congratulations to 21 new promotoras in Walsenburg and the San Luis Valley
who graduated from SISTERS’ program on September 16!
These
highly-trained community members are now ready to help their families,
neighbors, friends and co-workers to stay free of HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted
diseases, domestic violence, heart disease, diabetes and other health
issues faced by communities of color in southern Colorado.
